SQL Server 2000 Help

I am looking for a solution to what would appear to be a simple SQL Server problem.

Essentially, I have a SELECT statement that works fine. What I need added to this select statement is the current record number.

For example, (SELECT [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view] FROM Member M WHERE [url removed, login to view] = 'Williams') returns 5 records. I also need to add the record number to each record. So, I need the recordset to have the first name, the last name, AND the record number. Record number is not a selectable field in the database. Something like this:

RecNum LastName FirstName

1 Williams Bob

2 Williams Chris

3 Williams Fred

4 Williams George

5 Williams Ted

This looks so simple, but has caused me many headaches.
