I need a web service that will allow the following:
Installed on an Intranet, user goes to the site and uploads their original picture (<2mb). Picture is opened in an java applet or other method (on the page and not a pop-up). From there the picture can be cropped (similar to Photoshop or other image editor. This doesn't need to be cropped automatically, but instead by the mouse maneuver of the User). The file then is saved to a MySQL database (User defines the file name). On the same page (after file is saved), there would need to be a drop-down (combo box) menu that has 4+ different image size (dimensions ex. 400px X 800px) with associated file size (size of the actual file ex. 12k, also will need to be able to reduce 300dpi to 72dpi) that the user can choose to have the original picture resized and compressed to the selected dropdown settings. Image would then be converted to this size and displayed on the page. The image can then be saved to user's hard drive for their use. Only the original image will be saved to the database. The rendered images are only displayed during that session. User should see on the page all the images (originals) they have uploaded that they can then render to their desired drop-down dimensions/file size.
Upload needs to accept .jpg, .jpeg, and .gif formats (the more the better). Rendered image needs the same formats.
It is essential that the compressed file be as close in quality as the original (similar to 100% jpg compression in PhotoShop CS2 using Save For Web function). There should be no Matte, no blur in the optimization.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
Web service needs to run on Linix Redhat Apache server.
Database is MySQL. Functionality needs to be functional in IE 5+, Netscape, and FireFox.
