I currently am planning to use a phpnuke type site. In fact I already have the site up with phpnuke. I am not married to PHPNuke, I will use whatever makes the most sense when considering $$’s and future expansion. This project will include:
1. News administration system - I want the news/press releases to come to me (admin) and I will either forward them to the site for viewers or I will delete them.
2. Ability to see the state and perhaps cities of site visitors- A 30 day total of visitors and from which state they are from would work. Must be US states, not countries.
3. system for my customers to enter 'widgets' that they have for sale and for site visitors to search for widgets to buy. These widgets will not be sold on the site. These are large ticket items that (for now) visitors will contact the group that posted the widget to purchase.
_**#1 ??" News administration**_. I want the most efficient (and inexpensive) way to administer press releases that I will get off the internet. Ideally I would like press releases to come to me, through the admin portion of my site I will decide what stories to place on my site.
_**#2 ??" Location of Visitors**_. I would like to know where the visitors to my site live. This site will be primarily (99.9%) for U.S visitors so country information will do me no good here. I need states and perhaps cities. I will NOT have different pages and content for different visitors. I just want this information. Ideally it would be easily viewable somewhere in the management area of my site. This does not need to be interactive.
**_#3 ??" Search_** This site will allow visitors to search for ‘widgets’ I and other suppliers/sellers/brokers of widgets will enter our widget information on the site via a secure admin portion of the site. We will enter
1.) cost of widget
2.) location of widget (state)
3.) size of widget
4.) capacity of widget
5.) who to contact to buy widget
Once entered, all of theses 5 fields will be visible for our visitors. However, I would like the site to add two more fields: 6) price per unit based on the size of the widget and price. This figure is retrieved by dividing cost (#1) by size (#3)
7.) price per capacity based on price. This figure is derived by dividing cost (#1) by capacity (#4).
These two things will need to be automatically calculated by the site when we enter the initial information.
**_Example: of a search result_**
Size: 10 GB
Capacity: 5 MP
Price/unit: $100 (1,000 / 10 = 100)
Pice/capacity: $200 (1,000 / 5 =200)
Contact: xyz group
_**#4 ??" Search for Widgets**_ ??" Don’t allow any ‘select all’s’
A) Select cost. Check a box for minimum cost (one check only) and then go to the next box and check maximum cost (one check only)
B) Select Location: Check boxes for states that widgets are located in. Can check as many boxes as they like.
C) Select size. Check a box for minimum size (one check only) and then go to the next box and check maximum size (one check only)
D) Capacity. Same as A & B. This is an optional field and the search will work if nothing is checked in this category
E) Price per unit. Same as A & B. This is an optional field and the search will work if nothing is checked in this category
F) Price per capacity. Same as A & B. This is an optional field and the search will work if nothing is checked in this category
