I have a webgames website, most of the games are swf flash games.
I don't mind that other sites are hotlinking from mine because I want to take advantage of it with a quit simple solution:
I want you to do following task:
I will change the directory of my games once a while, that means that when I have changed it the swf games that are hotlinked won't be reachable for the hotlinking website and they will get a 404 error.
I don't want them to have a 404 error, in stead of that I want that they get a custom flash file with a kind of message like: "You tried to play a game that is hosted on [url removed, login to view] Click here to play that game"
If you are realy good you should make a custom link for each file so that it directly links to that game on my site. If you are not able to do that, it isn't a big problem it only gives you more chance to be chosen.
An example to make sure everything is clear, this is hypothetic:
Today site x make a hotlink with following file : [url removed, login to view]
the game is now playable from that site
Tomorrow I change the directory of the game from /game to /newdir
That means that if today an user of that site tries to play that same game he won't be able to do it and he will get a 404 error. To prevent that I want that even if the file /games/[url removed, login to view] doesn't exists anymore that it is still reachable but showing a custom swf file with advertisement for my site and if possible link to the game.
I hope this explaination is clear enough, if not you can post your questions on the clarification board.
