I'm a PHP/MySQL developer with a pet project/idea I want to develop with your help. Visit [url removed, login to view] ... you'll see some sensors/triggers, with drivers for lots of languages, including AS3.
I have the Phidget RFID tag reader ($65!). What I don't have is a way to make a scanned tag trigger an http POST of that tags string to an IP address.
The end result: When a tag is scanned, the Flash script (which is open in a browser) will asynchronously POST the tag ID string over http to an IP address of my choosing (passed to the script via embed options), where it will be received by my php script and stored via MySQL.
Simple, eh? I hope you find this as interesting as I do!
They provide everything needed to do what I want ... the API, .fla examples, docs ... and it looks very clear to me, but I just don't know Flash. It would be much easier for you to code this with the tag reader, but the API is really straightforward, so you should get by with reading the docs and looking at the examples.
There will be 3 graphic states which I will provide:
1) OFF ... scanner is unplugged
2) ON ... scanner is ready and listening
3) SCAN ... a tag is detected (includes audio feedback)
One final requirement: The script must receive feedback from the server it POSTed to. A few more graphic states could then be triggered by the result. I'll explain further if you're interested :)
There are a few Phidget events I want included, such as triggering the LED lights ... the API makes this very very simple. I'll provide another paragraph of these basic parameters when we move forward.
