I would like to have a printed book I own scanned and converted to an electronic format that I can edit/add notes etc. ? This is just for personal use, I am not looking for some stand alone application.? ? I am open to suggestions on the best format, but I was thinking perhaps a word file, vs pdf (with text behind images of the page), vs Microsoft ebook, vs. html.? I want automated OCR, I don’t need it corrected if it is fairly close.? I just want the opportunity to edit the original if I find error’s in scanning, without loosing all of my notes.? This is one potential problem I see with an ebook, I would have to regenerate the ebook and I think my notes and highlighting would be lost.? If I am wrong, or if there is a way around this I think that format would be ideal.? ?
I want the ability to search for text, jump to page numbers, add notes, highlighting, etc.? A hypertext version of the table of contents and a workable index would be great if it didn’t add to much to the cost.?
The pages contain text and simple illustrations typically two shades and occasionally some have two shades of gray plus black and white, the text is typically in outline form and there are approximately 1050 pages.? ? ? Project due date is flexible if agreed upon in advance, I was thinking approximately one month.? ? However the deadline should be firm once it is agreed upon.
There has been some confusion as to my bid request.? The orignal request involves startin with the printed book, scanning it and then sending me the book back with the completed file.? However, I would be open to sending jpgs of the pages to the coder on chapter by chapter basis.? ? Please let? me know if your bid is for scanning and generatiing the? book, OR just generating the book off of .jpg's.? ? ? Also, please give me an estimated turn around time for x# of pages at a time, as I would send it a chapter at a time.
Complete work as discussed above on CD, or zip file.
