I'm very close to getting the layout I'd like for my site using my current wordpress theme. However, I can't quite get it with the requirements I have. So, here's where you come in!
MAIN TASK: Creating a masonry block size that shows a post's featured image, and will also adjust proportionally to the intended container
WHAT I HAVE NOW:
- Theme includes a "Posts - Isotope/masonry" widget in the page builder section. This currently allows me to choose how many of my posts to show for a selected category, with their featured images as masonry blocks.
PROBLEM: I am using the SiteOrigin Pagebuilder to create all of my pages, which allows me to insert the "Posts-Isotope Masonry" widget and have it use a section of the body with a specified width. The problem is, when I create a post, I am required to select a size for the masonry block. So, for example, if I select the big square size, this block will be a different size on my home page than if I only wanted it to be 70% on my category page. Not to mention the fact that I need different rectangle sizes depending on the selected container I'm trying to put it in.
-A new size for my theme's "Posts-Isotope/Masonry" widget that I can select when creating a post. Must conform to 100% of the width of the container, no matter what size the container is.
--Added ability to "Posts-Isotope/Masonry" widget: ability to set height in pixels. Instead of having to choose a square or rectangle size with pre-set height values, I'd like to just set the size of the height when using the widget, have the width be 100% of the image, and have the image centered with the top/bottom cropped off
-Added ability to "Posts-Isotope/Masonry" widget: be able to choose how much padding
-Added ability to "Posts-Isotope/Masonry" widget: select how many posts to skip. Currently, I can select it to display the most recent posts. If it's the 5th block on my page though, I'd like to be able to skip the first 4 posts.
-Added ability to "Posts-Isotope/Masonry" widget: instead of showing date on mouse-over, show the post's category, even before mouse-over
-Added ability: I'd like to have a specific background color for each category displayed. Might be easiest to set this field when creating a category.
-Change the default size for a post to the size you'd be creating here for me
SUMMARY: Essentially, I'm just looking for someone to add some capabilities to an existing theme page building widget. An auto-conforming size, colorful category instead of date, and the ability to choose what post for it to display. A good example of what I'm looking to use this for is to create a home page and category page with blocks similar to [url removed, login to view], and [url removed, login to view]
Domain: [url removed, login to view]
Thanks for looking!
