eBusiness needs to have its Shopping cart system capable of communicating with supplier that uses EDI system.
Please read this completely and understand what we're saying before asking for clarification.
Presently they are using ZenCart with several special modifications that allow it to store Amazon Products in a special temp shopping cart while the customer completes his shopping. The customer can pick between local product or Amazon and it is all stored in the temp cart till checkout. At checkout he completes his payment for local products and then is shifted to Amazon where his order is dumped into the Amazon cart and is ready to checkout with one click.
YOU WOULD BE EXPECTED TO ADD EDI:
They have been approved to do business directly with a large supplier that uses EDI rather than web services oriented data exchange such as Amazon. The EDI is fairly straight forward. You would be expected to add the ability for them to pass orders directly from the Zen Cart to the supplier's EDI system. The order process would go like this.
1. customer finds product and orders
1.1 availability is checked with suppliers EDI system
1.2 if available customer is allowed to continue.. if not he is told and allowed to backorder.
2. customer checks out and pays
3. order is transmitted to suppliers EDI system
The special trick is to get the php of ZenCart to communicate with EDI system. There is a Mambo module that is designed to do this you can look at for pointers. It is specific to mambo but should be simple to port to Zen. Its called the Skylark EDI module. If you go to this web address [url removed, login to view] net there should be a link. This should be a relatively simple port.
I have to have some reason to believe you can do this and you will have to begin by reading the bid request carefully and looking at the module suggested. Thanks.
