Each string is a node. The first column is a node that points to another node, namely the second column. Anything that IS NOT being pointed to is a "parent". For example, **A** and **Q** are parents.
A point to B, B points to C, A point to D, etc.
Therefore A->B->C and A->D are valid statements. (-> means points to).
