I want to insert a scrolling list on this page ([url removed, login to view]). In the lower left portion of the screen you will see a 'virtual tour' box. This is where the scrolling list will go, it will replace the existing box.
The content of the list will be extracted from a mysql database. The actual content will be a subset of the content on the events page which you will see on the same site (upper right hand tab).
The job is to integrate some code into the html that will scroll an event to the top of the box, pause for a while and then scroll the next event to the top of the box. I want at least 2 events to be visible at the same time (providing there are at least 2 events to show.
The 'title' and the 'description' are the two items which will be displayed in the scrolling text. The title will be bold and will be a dark blue colour and the 'description' will be black and in a smaller font. The scrolling text of each event will only consist of two lines as described above. If there is more text than can fit on each line then the text will be truncated and terminated in an ellipsis (...).
If a visitor clicks anywhere inside the scrolling box the action will take them to the events page.
I want to position this new box either above or below the other two boxes and make it either the full width of the page or maybe 2/3 of the width of the page. It would also be necessary to widen the other two boxes, perhaps each half the width of the page.
The home page is pulled dynamically from a database. The database contains the text (html) which needs to be modified.
I have attached both the home page code (this is the code from the lower half of the page) and the code which displays the events in full on the events page.
The structure of the database which holds the events data is also attached.
1. create scrolling text box as defined
2. position this box box above or below other two boxes
3. enlarge the other two boxes to make best use of the page.
I'm expecting this to be a couple of hours work for a competent coder...
