We have a WordPress plugin that installs our (Flash-based) widget. I'd like to modify the plugin so that upon installation:
1. the user should have to go to the "Settings" page and enter the URL to his blog/site as well as an email address.
2. Our system should then send a confirmation email to the user's email address with an activation code
3. The activation code should then be set in the Settings page (there should be an expiration date for the activation that we can control from our server). Obviously the expiration has to be unque to each individual user.
4. once the user has added but not yet activated there should be a message reminding them to activate it and a link back to our website.
I expect this to be a very straightforward task BUT ONLY EXPERIENCED WORDPRESS developers will be considered. As part of this task is the whole notion of authenticating. (Authentication does not have to be fool-proof, but enough to deter a non-developer).
In your response, please address how you will do this. This will serve as evidence of your knowledge.
Once this is done then we need additonal enhancements + additional plugins. There will be a steady stream of small WORDPRESS plugin development to be done.
