We have an existing community directory website that is PHP based. Later we installed Joomla onto the same server to give our site a Forum (Kunena) and Photo Gallery (PhocaGallery). When a user becomes a member of our site (via non-Joomla area), the user credentials are passed to Joomla using a custom Joomla Authentication Bridge.
Currently when a Member logs into our website, when they move into the Joomla areas (Forum or Gallery) they must log in a second time.
We are looking for a PHP & Joomla expert that could achieve the following tasks:
1. When a user logs in as a member to our site (non-Joomla area), this is cached so when the mover moves into the Joomla area they are already authenticated and do not need to log in a second time.
2. Where the user has previously logged in as a member to our site, cache the users credentials (possibly using database hash checksim and cookie session ID, etc) so when the user visits our site they are automatically authenticated and do not need to log in each time.
3. At the top of the site, show the current authenticated state:
eg. "Welcome to [Site Name] | Log In") OR
"Welcome [Member Name]. You are currently logged in | Log Out"
Please advise if you have carried out similar work previously and any examples of working authentication.
