Looking for coder with lots of experience with server-side multiplayer games.
The idea is to create a "games room" in a Moodle site ([[url removed, login to view]]) that will allow registered members to play chess with each other (more games will be added down the road). I am not familiar with server-side games, so the chosen coder must also act as an advisor. Some questions that come to mind:
1. What chess program should we use (good graphics, modest server load, etc.)? Must have the ability to track scores.
2. I assume the chess program will be installed separately from the Moodle CMS. How do we connect the game to the Moodle platform? Can we use the Moodle database (mySQL) to control access to the chess game (ie. only users in the Moodle database can access the chess game).
As you can tell, this project is still very much in the "investigation stage", but I am willing to push ahead with it if someone can produce a decent plan. Got some ideas? Love to hear them!
1. Fully functional chess game installed on dedicated linux server.
2. Game must use Moodle database to control access and log scores.
