SCO cpio with tape drive issue

I'm not very familiar with cpio. I'm trying to get a file off of a backup tape on my SCO server. I found a shell script on the server that allowed me to view a table of contents of the tape. The file I want to get off the tape is on it (/data1/forte/f2000/OE/[url removed, login to view]).

I'm running the command "cpio -id /data1/forte/f2000/OE/[url removed, login to view] < /dev/rStp0?? where /dev/rStp0 is the tape drive and /data1/forte/f2000/OE/[url removed, login to view] is the file I need from the tape. Is this correct?

I do not know how my client backs up the tape and they can’t get that information to me in time. I only know that they use cpio. So I don’t know if they compress, etc. I need to have this done in the next few hours.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m on AIM if that would help the process along. Thanks for your consideration.

PS: I would also like to know how I can find out that files exist on the tape drive. Thanks again.
