Need module/plugin that sends notifications to emails when new items are added to Joomla K2 category

I have a sportsclub website which uses K2 and consists of many news categories. I need a module/plugin that will allow users to subscribe their email address to receive a notification when a new stories is submitted to the specific category this user wants to get notifications from. They way I see it happening is to have a module that connects to specific categories in the back end. The back-end of the module will have a dropdown list of all K2 categories and I will be able to choose which category this specific module will connect to. Then I can publish that module to the page where I am showing news from Category A and another instance of the module on another page where I am showing news from category B. Users who submit their email address to the module on the front-end will then automatically receive a notification in email when a new item is published to that specific category. There should be access in the back-end to the email addresses for administration purposes.. deleting and such. Basically: If I have a child practicing sports in a certain agegroup I want to receive an email every time the coach puts something on the website for the team my child is in. And the clubs has many different teams in many types of sports. I hope this makes sense, if there are any questions please ask. And I guess, as always, I would love to have this done quickly and implemented safely to my site. I have found two extentions that have done something similar... one of them is working for Joomla 3... if it is possible to use that extention to save time and work and build from that - then that is fine by me.
