I am looking to create a small, database driven, web application to help our company and our customers track Core Returns.
Some components that we sell require a customer to return a core. This is a tedious process and I am looking to streamline the process and automate reminders to customers that they have a core due.
There will be a front end (customer view) and a back end (my company view)...
Basically, when we sell a part which requires a core, a person from our company will log in to the backend and enter the information regarding the core. I estimate 14 Inputs to related to that core (although each database should be approximately 18-19 values which I will discuss later).
This will make that core ACTIVE, and will add it to a list view on the backend (so status of all cores can be displayed from the database. The software should email the customer the generated REFERENCE Number and give them a link to the front end to input this number when the core is ready to be returned so we can arrange pickup.
After 7 days, if the core has not yet been marked as returned, another reminder email, every 7 days, and so on until it is handled.
So basically 3 front end pages... One - List View (My company). One - Input (My company) and One - Return Input (customer) which will change the value of that core to Returned, Pending, and obviously update that on the list view.
I added three files (In Excel) kind of summarizing what it would possibly display on each page.
The language does not matter to me, and I pay for a GODADDY Virtual Server (linux) that has a database on it for another project, or I have a Windows SBS Server here that could be used (or if it could easily be done on a front end sharepoint site that would work too).
I can design the pages if the code is working.
