Hi, i'm the owner of a new website that is being created at www.sharenotes.com. I am currently running phpbb and i'm not entirely sure if it will be able to do what i want. I was wondering if someone could customize phpbb (or another forum i'd be willing to purchase lisence for ie vbulletin etc) that will work for me. please visit [url removed, login to view] to get a feel for what i am talking about. Here is what i need:
I want to make the following Static Holders.
Study Groups, Product Discussions, Services (these are my major categories of products on my website)
Under product discussions, this will be a thread for each product created. all buyers of the product will be offered a chance to join the thread at product checkout. The creater of the product will get the modorator permissions for all their product threads.
Services: each category is its own forum (ie a forum for each category created/listed under services when you click the link). then each product will get a thread under the respective category. Each seller is moderator for the thread regarding their product. At check out, the user will have the option to join this thread.
a forum should be automatically created for each university added. a subforum for each class under the respective university, a subforum for each teacher, subforum for each, semester, and a subforum for each section. Once a section is created, 2 subcategories will be automatically created: homework discussion & class discussion. Users of the study group will be able to create threads under these two subforums (these are the only places threads can be created). Should a buyer purchase lecture notes, they should be offered the ability to join the study group for the SECTION at checkout.
Who ever creates the study group section will be the moderator for that section.
someone adds a new university, univ1. The forum will automatically add a subfourm understudy groups called Univ1. once a class is created, the subforum will be created, teacher added as they are created, semester added as created, section added as created. Once the section is created, the forum will add the subforums: homework discussion, class discussion. from this point on the user can add threads to eithe rof these subforums (this is the only place for threads).
another person just adds a class to univ1. the forum will only add the subforums: class to the existing univ1 parent forum. once again, as the new teacher is created , another subforum automatically created until they get to the section number.
if another person just adds a different section to an existing teacher, just the section and its 2 subforums will be added.
in a way, this matches the hierarchy of the store. really, the only things being created are various subforums until the section appears at which point it adds the final subforum (always the same in every case) that will actually hold the user created threads.
The current script is a custom one (with regards to the shop). Right now phpbb will add forums based on categories created (but not subforums and the want it as described above).
Let me know if this doesn't make sense. basically here is what i want: i have a store ("sharenotes store"). people who make the sections on the store will have the same sections added to the forum, so that when they sell a product-they can have a product discussion where people (buyers) can ask questions or discuss, etc... from the forum end, i want people to be able to freely add their own study groups. the registration they make at the forum should be the same as the store (ie when the store is created a forum user is created with same login details//when forum user is created the same buyer account is created on the store). make sense? if one were to add a study group on the forum without purchasing anything, they would just go to the forum (the study group section of the forum) and click "add study group". when they do that, they will be able to type in the university..etc.. once that is created it can be used by other people (like if they add a university that had not already been created, the next person can just add a study group under that university). ?
So in a sense I basically want multiple forums which are organized under a particular hierarchical structure. I do not exactly look at this as a sub-forum since we are not allowing the users to post threads in the parent forums. ?? When the seller posts note for sale the forum with the hierarchy automatically gets created and the buyer of the notes can join that forum. ??I think we can move on from here
?a) When a buyer purchase lecture notes they will have the ability to join the study group for the SECTION at checkout. ?b) USers will be able to use their login details which has been used during registration to join a study group. ?c) Sellers will be marked as moderators of the forum automatically. ?d) Seller can mark a forum as free or paid for which buyers need to pay $xxx to join the forum, else the buyer automatically gets access to the forum.
When you place your bid, please give me an idea of what will the fourm look like? can you make it look like the rest of my site (keep the same theme)? will it have all the basic features of phpbb/vbulletin in addition to the requested features (features such as: the forums to be seo friendly ?wysiwyg for making posts and the ability to attach images and files ?i'd like the ability to rate the post, polls, and user post count ?display who's online. ?ability to create private forums ?ability to display adsense ads). are you going to be able to integrate it into my website even though it was coded by a different programmer? Integration involving: the same user [url removed, login to view] in store will be used for the forum. integration of check out: give buyers option to join the thread at check out. will you be able to make it so that certain product (ie services) will have a thread that only people who purchased the product can view-and when a person tries to access it should say that it requires the purchase of xxx?
To sum it up there could be 3 different types of forums available to the users:- ?a) Product Discussion Forums related to Products( such as lecture notes). At check out the buyer will be presented with an option to join the related forum for free. The seller of the forum will act as a moderator. ??b) Forums related to services( such as essay help). At check out the buyer of the service will be presented with an option to join this forum for an extra price (. the service forum is not necessarily an extra free. the forum access comes with the purchase of the service. you can't view the forum without the purchase of the service (make sense?).) This forum will be private and made available for only the buyers of that service. ??c) Forums related to study groups ( free for anyone to create or join). The forum will follow a fixed hierachical structure as discussed before. ??General Features of the forum will have the following as described above:- ?- all the features of phpBB in addition to this custom project ?- seo friendly ?- wysiwyg editor for making posts and the ability to attach images and files ?- rate the post, polls, and user post count ?display who's online. ?- ability to create private, public forums ?- ability to display adsense ads.
