Web basied application (java?) will accept serial port input (port selectable by end user) from a check MICR reader. Information from the reader includes routing number, account number and check number. Account number and Routing number when read will query MySQL database for possible customer account numbers and current balance. If a match is found, a webform will be built to post a payment to an exsisting web billing system. If no match is found, a seach page, like the one found on the payment posting demo page will assist in locating the correct billing system account number, the bank routing and bank account number will then be updated in the MySQL table for future use.
Client computer systems will be Windows 95-XP,NT. Optionally Linux X-workstations, and Mac workstations too. Web browsers to support, IE5.5 and newer, Optionally Netscape too.
Check readers will be MagTek MiniMICR RS-232 models. Technical specs can be found at [url removed, login to view]
Application on web host will be coded in Perl and run on Slackware version 8 and newer. Web server is Apache1.x.
