To add a new feature to an existing multi-lingual dynamic web site, written in C++ and perl, to display a small piece of text on every page fetched from a database. The information will depend on the current date and language, there may be more than one bit available in which case one should be chosen at random. A process to load the database with snippets from a text file (formatted to our specifications) should be provided. The snippets will be of teh 'on this day in history variety.' Additionally, there's a news page which should list all the relevant 'on this day' items, sorted in any consistent order." Therefore, it's imprtant that bidders have a Unix background and are familiar and happy working with C++ and Perl. This is necessary because the site is written in C++, although a lot of the C++ is generated by the perl side of things, and has worked flawlessly for a year. PHP is unacceptable - don't even ask. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in tested, ready-to-run condition, as follows? : a)?
