I have tried several solutions but none have worked well. My goal is not to get the cheapest deal--please don't bid low and then feel like it is an inconvenience to follow through completely. I need to get this script implemented successfully.
I have an e-comm site (X-cart, PHP, Unix server) with multiple franchises. I would like to be able to control (percentage) a division of incoming hits (to the main domain) between the franchises by inserting the appropriate phone number in the site. (when you come to the site, 25% of the traffic will see phone number 1, 25% will see phone number 2 and so on)
I will need a cookie so that returning customers will see the same number and so that the number will remain consistent throughout the entire visit and/or purchase.
I have been advised to split the traffic via random number generation or something similar. I want to be able to administer the traffic flow-for instance if one franchise is on vacation then I want to be able to pull him out of the rotation.
I had some success with a simple PHP script that used SSI to change the phone number and a text file for the franchise numbers, but it didn't have a cookie and I CANNOT do anything that tweaks search engine bots off. No frames, no redirects, no SHTML extensions, no anything that can't be guaranteed bot friendly. (I forget but I think I worked around the .shtml issue before..)
Please bid this knowing that I will want help implementing it, not just "here ya go--good luck." Thanks.
