TAP, COMP1, and COMP2 are standard protocols for pager data. A computer will output data formatted according to one of these protocols via RS232 to a pager transmitter which will then send the radio page with the data to the pager. We wish to have a routine written in Perl that will run under CentOS 5.2 that will: Allow the selection of one of the three types of data, TAP, COMP1, COMP2 monitor the serial port on the box, accept any data that is received in the format selected. parse the data into ID and message text, write the text into a sequential log file Our test machine is a Dell 2950 server. The deliverables will be the Perl source code. Acceptance will be to run the program on the test machine, send the port the data from a paging output system, and compare the log file with the data sent.
