We need an OSCommerce expert to help us fix a problem right now.
We have an OSCommerce site that is hosted on host gator with the domains hosted at GoDaddy and pointed. Currently when you go to the site address it returns this error:
**Parse error**: syntax error, unexpected '<' in **/home/vermeil/public_html/[url removed, login to view]** on line **13
We need to have the error fixed so we can see the site being developed. We also need to be able to access the backend. We can get to the Administrator login and enter the username and password but it takes us to a 404 page.
We know the reason for this is because we had the main domain pointing to where it was being developed but we needed a splash page so it wouldn't be live on the web as we developed. So we repointed the hosting to another domain name and left the correct domain name pointing to a splash page. Now when we try to access the backend we can see when we put in the username and password that it redirects back to the "old"
correct domain name instead of the new one we are building on.
I think it is a matter of correcting a couple of line of code to see the site and then make the links correct the links so that they all point to the "new" domain name instead of the one we began building on.
We need this work done immediately. This is third party work and no contact with our contact is allowed. Please indicate if you think the solution might be as simple as I think it is and your expertise in OSCommerce and PHP.
This site was built by a third party vendor who took our last payment before the project was finished and then dropped the project.
We believe the site is mostly built but can't confirm this until we see it and can access the back end.
After we can see the site live and access the backend again (This project) we will post a
* NEW PROJECT*
that will consist of finishing the site, securing it, connecting the shipping and merchant. We will need someone to verify if the Points below have been implemented and if not implement them. If you feel you have the experience to complete the second NEW project that will be posted please let us know.
We do still have the following issues to resolve, although without being able to access the back end or other pages of the website, we cannot see if they are finished or not:
Product descriptions need to include the ability to accommodate styles such as bold or italic, or HTML hyperlinks, and should be readily visible to the user and can be easily updated by us as needed in the back end.
The ability to optimize for search engines is supposed to be built into the site, with the ability to add keywords and meta tags.... but we are not sure if this is possible.
The back end of the site should allow us to set pricing for shipping based on weight or on amount spent. We will need you to integrate the shopping cart with USPS. We are most probably going to use a product called Endicia.
Also, the site is supposed to include the ability to run reports on revenue, gross product sales, shipping costs, etc. It's also supposed to support coupon code capabilities, but we are not sure if this is possible with the site as it stands.
The client wants to have styled pages for Contact Us, About Us, FAQ, and Shipping Info. We would need you to create these based on PSD mockups. We will try to make them simple so as not to require any major CSS coding. They're not yet created, as we don't have content from the client, but I will try to get those together ASAP.
Currently the navigation bar allows the user to sort by Price and Collection. For now the client wants to disable this function, but she will probably want to use them at some point in the future. We are not sure if the back end actually allows us to tag items by price and collection so that they'll appear in the correct nav bar lists.
At the end we will need to add Google Analytics to the footer. We will provide account details when you are ready.
As always, this is a third-party project, so we would not want you to contact the client or make her aware of your work on the site. We will provide emails to use for administrative emails wherever necessary.
