We provide time-sensitive products to college students.? We would like to develop a Facebook application that updates users when our products are available.? We should be able to use the administrator account to make the changes when necessary.? The application should show up as an attractive graphic on the Facebook user's profile.? Please see the detailed description for more information.
We are currently accepting bids for the following project, which involves designing a Facebook application that conveys information to our customers.
**About our Company**
Our company provides class notes to college students.? We typically cover 10-20 classes, each of which has three or four exams per semester.? The notes are sold through three bookstore outlets near the college.? We guarantee they will be available in stores five days before each exam, but we are sometimes able to release them earlier.? Because we release notes five days before the exam, we provide supplemental information (which we call “supplements??) on our Web site.? Typically, there are one or two supplements for each exam (though this varies).
One of the challenges we face is letting students know when the notes are available in stores. ? Another challenge is encouraging students to download the supplements, which usually contain critical information. ? We currently offer e-mail updates and cell phone texting, but these options are intrusive and, as such, we use them minimally.?
**The Functionality of the Application**
We would like to establish a Facebook application that will provide our customers with critical updates relating to when the notes are in stores.? We should be able to input the information under the administrator account and have it automatically update on each user’s Facebook page.? The critical information that we want to communicate for each class is as follows:
* The exam date
* An estimated release date for the notes *or* a notification that the notes are in the stores
* A notification that supplements have been posted.
* A field for any general important comments about the exam.? For example, we might use this field to communicate that “Dr. Jones announced that Exam 2 will *not* cover Chapter 5, even though the syllabus says it does.??
Only the latest exam’s information should be available.? That is, once Exam 1 has occurred, we should be able to use the administrator account to change the information to Exam 2 information.
Users should be able to choose to receive updates from a list of classes.? Once they choose to receive updates for that class, the above information should automatically appear on their Facebook profile page.? Of course, they should be able to add or remove classes from their list throughout the semester.
We should be able to easily add or subtract classes on the administrator end, because our class list changes every semester.? We have no programming knowledge and need to be able to change the application every semester without the help of a programmer.
We should also be able to remove users from their subscriptions (e.g., at the end of the semester, when they are no longer enrolled in the course.)
The application’s design on the user’s Facebook profile should be simplistic and small.? We do not want to add any advertisements.? It should be attractive and include our company logo.? The aesthetics can be worked out after the functionality is taken care of.
We will work with the programmer with graphics, aesthetics, etc.
