Tracking Visitors From Search Engines

On multiple web sites, I use autoresponder signup forms with 1shoppingcart.? The web sites get visitors from two key places:

1)? Search Engines;

2) Other referring web sites.

For tracking purposes, I need to know if a specific email address that comes into the database came from search engines or from some other source.? I am open to the easiest solution to handling this that is reasonably portable to variety of web sites and different hosts.

## Deliverables

What we? really need is to be able to look up in past and ask if a specific autoresponder email address came from either search engines or from another source.? This could be binary:

Put in either SEARCH or OTHER into a database.

I can see this happening 1 of 2 ways.? When the Form is submitted, a SEARCH is put into an available field for the 1shoppingcart form or 2) when the 1shoppingcart form is submitted, the email is acquired and then the email and the SEARCH designation would be stored in another simple database.
