This project is a redesign and redevelopment of our customers' website. The company breeds and sells high end Koi fish, and is one of the largest Koi farms in the United States.
The original site was developed in Joomla using the Virtuemart (ecommerce) and AuctionFactory components. While this enabled us to contain everything under one administrative back end, the site (particularly the store and auction) was difficult and tedious to work with. As a result, we would like to incorporate three different software packages into this new version.
Please see below for more details and requirements.
The three components are as follows:
1. WordPress Blog and CMS - There are approximately 10 content pages which will be easily maintained through WordPress as well as a blog which will be integrated into the main site (it's currently a separate entity). We definitely need someone with a high degree of graphic design ability to either develop a custom theme, or adapt an existing one to the customer's specificatons. A left-side navigation menu will be necessary so that the client can add as many additional pages as needed without having to edit the theme templates.
2. eCommerce - We're open to using either Zen Cart, PrestaShop or OpenCart for the online shopping component. There are usually 100+ products on sale at any time, in approximately 8-10 categories. The Koi fish are broken down into several variables (Variety, Grade, Sex, Size and Breeder) and a means of searching based on those elements is required.
3. Auction - While there seem to be a lot of auction software packages available, we are open to suggestions as far as what would be best to use. The company tends to run auctions several times per year, and since they are the only "seller" the software doesn't need to allow users to post items for bidding (like eBay). In addition, they must have the ability to specify a starting and ending time (sometimes only a few hours apart). One of the customer's requests is that items could be posted for preview before the actual auction begins. If you're aware of auction software that includes that feature, it would be a plus.
The site being redesigned is www.qualitykoi.com. Please look it over to familiarize yourself with the scope of the site.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and we will make every effort to provide answers for you.
We believe this site can be completed in approximately 100 hours or less, and we hope to be able to deliver it in 21-28 days. If you are unable to devote an average of 4-5 hours per day, please do not bid.
