I need to be able to do something and, well, I can't figure out how to do it. So, I'd like to give you better guidelines, but you'll have to come up with much of the solution.
Anyway, let's say I have a database with two fields and two records. We can call the first field "id". The value of this field is any number. We can call the second field "text blob". The value of this field will be a bunch of text and will contain HTML links (a href...).
What I need is a simple script which will search for all of the links in the textblob and transform them in the database, while adding on the "id" to the link and adding a variable to the link that will change dynamically based on the user. Additionally, the process should also assign a link number to the link. So, if it is the first link in the text blob, the link shows linkNumber=1; if it is the second link in the text blob, the link shows linkNumber2.
So, if this is our text blob...
TEXT TEXT TEXT <a href="http://www.destination.com">Link</a> TEXT TEXT
...then I want it the process to transform it so that it ends up something like this...
TEXT TEXT TEXT <a href="[url removed, login to view];linkNumber=1&userID=[VALUE OF USERID]&destination=http://www.destination.com">Link</a> TEXT TEXT.
I would like a demonstration of this with two different text blobs, each with its own unique id. I would like one of the text blobs to have two links in it so I can see the link number in action. I would prefer that this is done in PHP so I can understand what is going on, but it is a little bit up to you.
It would probably be best if you put the results in a second table (so there is one table, and then the process runs and the second table is populated with the new text blob). That way I can clear the second table and see the process run again.
You'll be paid upon demonstration of the script on your server, and I will assume that you will help me install it on my own server if I need the help.
Please ask if you have questions.
