I need a programmer with experience using the Facebook events API and with Joomla's JEvents. I would like the ability to import Facebook events posted by Facebook groups specified in the interface into JEvents. This would be done by cron.
Here's what I have in mind:
The Admin module displays a list of all Facebook Groups with events being imported and shows the associated JEvents category. The interface allows the Admin to re-associate Facebook groups with a Jevents category. It also allows the admin to delete a group.
To add a facebook group, the Admin enters the Facebook group id in a text box and then clicks a button. The application queries Facebook and returns the Facebook group name and asks if this is the correct group. If Admin answers yes, it is added to the list and the Admin is prompted to associate it with a Jevents category (they can also choose to leave it uncategorized).
A cron job runs based on a schedule that can be set by the Admin. When the cron runs, it queries Facebook for all events belonging to the groups in the list. Jevents events are created.
The following Facebook fields should be brought across:
parent_group > facebook group id
id > Facebook event id (can this be stored somewhere? If an existing event is changed, it should be updated or if it no longer exists in Facebook it should be removed)
cover > photo for event
name > name of event
ticket_uri > url to buy tickets
venue > venue hosting event (if any)
Only events with a Facebook updated_time (datetime) value that is greater than the last time the cron successfully ran should come across. The ability to override this and bring over all events might be a good idea in case there is a problem with a prior cron.
The program should use the Facebook API for events:
[url removed, login to view]
Let me know how much and how long.
