After a few recent acquisitions, your boss wants to expand the network infrastructure of the
(previously) small company you are working for. The company is expanding from a single
location, with 10-15 people to three locations, with 25-50 people per location. The first
location is in New York, and will host the database server with customer data (accessible
only within the company), the company’s email server (accessible from the Internet), an
internal web server that hosts the employees’ schedule (accessible only within the
company) and a publicly available web server, hosting some marketing material.
The second location, an R&D facility, is in Palo Alto, CA. The employee must be able to access
the company’s email server, internal web server to schedule meetings, and customer
database. This location hosts a web server, used as a repository for confidential design
The third location, in Austin, TX, is in charge of marketing. Employees frequently access the
customer database in New York and the document repository in Palo Alto. Additionally,
employees send emails using the email server in New York and publish marketing material
on the web server in the same location.
