We are trying to automatically generate pdf files in Arabic from a php web application. I am having a hard time with this. Arabic is difficult for 2 reasons: it is right to left and the characters are cursive. The shape of the character depends on if it is in the first, middle or last position of a word. I think we can use pdflib, but I'm not sure. If you have an alternative (that is not terribly expensive) then that will work also. We are not married to pdflib, but we have tried several things that have not worked. We have not, for example, been able to get FOP to work for this - so unless you have living proof, don't recommend it. We do not want code that sends the page to a website to handle the pdf generation. This is the second time we are bidding this project, since we had that misunderstanding before. We would like complete and and working code to generate a properly formatted pdf file in Arabic. If there are encoding or font files then we will need them also. If, due to copyright, you can't send us the font file, then we will need explicit instructions on how to obtain it or and link to it from our platform.
