The project consists of developing a small application using Access 2000. The Application The application is to support the operations of a Teaching Hospital, specifically administration of patient services, such as admissions, diagnosis, discharges and so on. The supporting essay (specification follows) will be designed for you to demonstrate how well you understand and can describe the concepts covered such as · key features of Access 2000 and VBA · the way VBA relates to other programming languages as a visual programming language and as a language using Object Oriented concepts · developing Visual applications and using 4GL's · what is expected from a modern programming development environment (IDE) · component based development · multi-tier architectures The supporting essay will consist of an essay and a technical report/recommendation. You are to write an essay (suggested length, excluding sample code, screen clips etc, of 5-10 pages of word processed text) reflecting on the facilities Access provides for developing applications giving examples from your experience developing the project application (this is very important, just paraphrasing the notes will not do; you must illustrate your points from your experience). You should also write a short technical report to London Met Teaching Hospital Management. The report should summarise the advantages of Microsoft .NET technology and indicate how it could be applied to systems in the Hospital and in communicating eg to GPs or suppliers.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site).
You have done requirements analysis and logical data design . Two .mdb files will be made available once your bid is accepted A Brief Description of the System and the Functionality you must implement The system is to support the following functions:- 1. Allow the user to enter the patients name or nhsno and the system will show his\her ward name, date admitted and date discharged if applicable for that patient for the current date. 2. Allow the user to enter the patients name or nhsno and the system will show his\her ward name , date admitted and date discharged if applicable, for all occasions that the patient has been admitted. 3. Allow all users to maintain the users table for their records only. The only exception to this is the manager who has access to all tables(see 11 below). 4. Allow a user to enter the wardname or wno and the system will produce a list of patients currently admitted. 5. List which GP’s have had no patients admitted to hospital this year to-date. 6. Display who was the last patient to die? 7. Produce a list of all doctors, their specialties and all their patients listed by specialty. 8. Patients, whose age is less than 18 when diagnosed, require parental consent to undergo treatment. In these cases the field, pconsent, will be flagged, y. Once their 18th. birthday has arrived this is no longer necessary. Give a list of patients currently admitted who are 18 or over and whose record states they require parental consent for treatment. When this function is executed the system should update the parental consent flag to n. 9. Produce a report of the cost incurred by patients for the previous seven days. Note some patients may have more than one illness currently diagnosed. This list is to the total cost by diagnosis within admission within patient and also group totals (ie the total cost for each admission of a patient and the total cost for each patient). 10. Produce a list of all patients currently in hospital who have been there for at least 10 days giving their name, ward, doctor and the length of stay to date, in order of the length of stay, longest stay first. 11. Allow doctors and managers to maintain all tables in the database with the exception of the users table where doctors can only alter their own record. (note, in assessing this particular attention will be paid to validation including, but not only, referential integrity checking and to ease of use). 12. Generate a report listing all wards and the number of spare beds they currently have. 13. Allow the user to select a doctor and then generate a report which lists all patients that the doctor has diagnosed in the year to-date (ie the 365 days up to the system date). The output should be sorted into most recent date first order. The report should include details of the diagnosis and the patients GP. 14. Allow medical staff to maintain only the patient details. Dieticians must not be allowed to maintain any tables. 15. Produce a list of all doctors, the total number of diagnoses they have made in each of the previous 2 years,ie the last 365 days and the 365 days prior to that. The output should be by doctor within year, in ascending order of diagnoses. Your essay should cover · how fully Access provides the functionality you need to develop applications · how easy to use and helpful the Access 2000 IDE is. This includes features of the IDE in developing Forms and Reports, of the VBA IDE in developing and debugging code and of the VBA language. ·
