This should be fairly simple. I have an ASP page that reads records from an Access database. The database records contain information about documents that are stored on a different server. Basically, you click a link from a database record which contains the path to a document on separate server.
The problem we are having is that, ofter times when a link is clicked, there is not a document with that path on the server (usually because it was not scanned properly.
What I would like is some type of identifier in the database results, that tells the user if there is truly a document by that name stored on the server.....in other words, if a user clicks a link, are they going to be brought to a document.
Clarification: Based on some of the questions, I wanted to clarify: Somehow, the link needs to be automatically checked to see if there is a document at the end of the path. If I am looking at database results, for each record I should be able to look and see if there is a document associated with the database record.
