We have a CRM package written in VB6 that works with an MSAccess or SQL database.
It allows the maintenace of any number of Organisation details with many-to-one relationships to Contact records, Event Records, and Attachments. There are also about twenty or so lookup tables such as Mailing Categories, Departments, Statuses etc etc.
We already have the ability to export a number of Organisations (together with their related contacts, Events etc), into a smaller cut down database which is read only and can be ported to a laptop for someone to use on the move with the main CRM software in 'remote' mode.
We want to know whether it is feasible to port this offline database to a pocket PC and rewrite a cut down read only version of the main application to run on the pocket PC.
Initially we need to know:-
Roughly how many Organisations with attachments etc could be stored on the Pocket PC and how fast they could be accessed
How similar can we make the pocket PC version to the main application (given screen size etc)
How fast porting the data to the pocket PC would be, and how easy it could be made for the user.
The feasability of updating the pocket PC database via the phone software
We would also like to use the code written to help teach our own programmers how to program the pocket PC.
This is likely to be an ongoing project for the right person.
Can you help ?
