Hello and thanks for the interest!
Here are the project specs.
Objective: to create a COM / Interop component in [url removed, login to view] that hooks into the Windows 2000 / XP file system and provides functionality via thecontext menu of folders and files within the operating system.
I have provided an attached screen shot to help clear this up. Basically, I need a component that gets installed and adds an item to the menu that pops up when a user right-clicks on a folder in the OS (Like when WinZip is installed). I need the same functionality when a user right clicks a file in the OS, but the label needs to read something else and the event triggered needs to be different than that of the one triggered by selecting the item from right clicking a folder. Both entries in the menu will use a single icon file and should have a temporary one for testing.
From a tech standpoint, I will need overloaded methods in the class that 1. Call a method when the user clicks on the menu item and 2. Passes the current full name (i.e c:\test\[url removed, login to view]) of the folder or file that is being reference through a parameter.
For test purposes, a simple popup message telling me I right clicked a folder, a file, a folder name $$$ and a file named $$$ will suffice.
This solution should be flexible enough so that I can alter the text in the menus of the file / folder using a single reference variable or property for each menu label, a single reference to a specified icon file and should be OOP oriented enough where I can instantiate any object and call its methods off of the event triggered when the user selects the menu item
Please ask questions if you have any.
