This is a fast $10 for the right person. Please reply only if you have a high degree of certainty that you know how to resolve this problem. I will pay $10 to the first coder who can resolve this problem for me. (I will review bids on a first come first serve basis)
Here is my scenario:
I have an application that I have written using VB 6.0
I have the following selected under Project-References
1. Visual Basic For Applications
2. Visual Basic runtime objects and procedures
3. OLE Automation
4. Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.5
I am using ADO to access an Access 2000 database.
[url removed, login to view] "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\[url removed, login to view]"
The program itself runs fine and has no database connectivity problems.
When I use Visual Studio 6.0 (Version 8426) to generate an MSI file (Installer with Windows Installer Loader) the output is:
1. [url removed, login to view]
2. [url removed, login to view]
3. [url removed, login to view]
4. [url removed, login to view]
5. [url removed, login to view]
All is still well, I have resolved all Merge File issues, etc.
The problem I encounter is when I install it on a client machine, during the installation I get an error window with the following text::
Error 1904: Module C:\Program Files\My Program Name\[url removed, login to view] failed to register. HRESULT ??"2147024865. Contact your support personnel.
The window has three buttons:
1. Exit Installation
2. Try Again
I can click continue, and the installation continues with success. This error seems benign and ignoring it does not result in the program not working after installation, however, I must resolve this, and I know that it can be resolved, because prior to re-installing my OS, I was able to generate an MSI that did not produce this error.
Again, please reply only if you feel that you know what the problem is. This is a fast $10 for the right person.
