I represent a small company that needs an application to keep track of ship positions.
Currently we use an Excel spreadsheet, and it does everything perfectly, EXCEPT managing multiple users working in the same sheet/data.
Therefore we need to move to a database application.
Your task will be to construct a small Database (compatible with MS SQL Server) with a few tables to keep track of users and ship information.
Your second task will be to construct a GUI to manage the data using a datagrid style control.
Users will type in new rows of data, edit existing rows and delete rows. They will also be able to colour-code the rows as needed with colours like red, yellow and green.
I have a few years experience with VB and Visual Studio, so I will be able to talk to you about the developement process.
I prefer the project to be developed using VB 2005. 3rd party controls are allowed but I prefer using only the built-in tools and controls.
I expect this to consume about a week or two or your time, depending on how well we communicate and how fast you work. I will also pay a handsome bonus for a well documented
and quickly delivered work.
