This program will consist of two parts, and be written in either C# or ASP.net. The target platform will be Windows 2003/2000 Server. The first part will be the scanning configuration. Here I will configure the files to scan for, the text within the file to scan for, and then the replacement text. For example, I will tell it to scan for "[url removed, login to view]" then within that file scan for "x = 123" and I will tell it to replace that line with "x = 456" It should be able to scan an unlimited number of files. It is OK if this configuration is done in a text file, a utility does not need to be written for this. The second part is the actual scanning which will take place on the servers. I should be able to specify the root path to start scanning in (i.e. E:\Inetpub). Then I should be able to hit a "Scan" button, the program will then go through and identify every instance of the files it finds (There will be multiple copies of each file), identify if they have been patched already, and report back. The report back should be detailed, hopefully color coded, telling me the path to each file, whether or not the file needs to be patched, and an option to skip that file.
