Embedded cell phone application port

We are seeking an experienced and skilled developer to create a prototype/proof of concept version of our existing applicaiton as a cell phone embedded/native application. The current application is coded in C++ for the Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW). We want to port this application to the embedded/RTOS level of a phone that can be cable loaded on at least one specific device. This device will be used in demonstrations to carriers and OEMs. The application in summary serves to provide content and advertising to cell phone users. The application presents graphical content to users through two means: 1) through the application proactively waking up and displaying content to the customer, all owing the user to easily dismiss the content or to interact with it; and, 2) through the user launching the application and interacting with its content.

## Deliverables

We are seeking an experienced and skilled developer to prototype as a cell phone embedded/native application our existing consumer cell phone application. The current application is coded in C++ for the Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW). We want to port this application to the embedded/RTOS level of a phone that can be cable loaded on at least one specific device. This device will be used in demonstrations to carriers and OEMs. The application in summary serves to provide content and advertising to cell phone users. The application presents graphical content to users through two means: 1) through the application proactively waking up and displaying content to the customer, all owing the user to easily dismiss the content or to interact with it; and, 2) through the user launching the application and interacting with its content. The existing application has many features. For this initial work, the critical functionality to be implemented includes the following: • The application establishes a data connection via HTTP to a server via a defined URL, and download data from that connection in Mobile Posse’s unique protocol. • The application parses the data from the server and stores the resulting information on the phone’s file system. • The application can be launched by a user from the phone keyboard. • The application schedules itself to periodically start itself automatically and then to display a banner ??" a defined graphic image ??" on the phone’s display screen. o The image displayed will be defined in the data that came down from the server. o When the banner is displayed, the image should be displayed so that the contents of the screen are unchanged except for the part of the screen covered by the banner. • When the application is launched by the user directly, it will display a “Recent Offers Menu??, displaying all content available for review by the consumer. The user may then enter the content and view it. • All content is static graphic images in the PNG format. The application needs to support associated functionality to allow the customer to “page through?? the content via the phone’s soft keys. We have a more detailed product and functional specification we will share with qualified candidates under NDA. The target devices are any one of the following for commercial devices sold in the US via either Verizon Wireless or AT&T: • Motorola v9m • LG VX 5400 • LG VX 8300 • Motorola K1m • Motorola v3m More information and specific product requirements will be provided to interested and qualified developers.
