I have an HTTP SQL Endpoint (SQL Server 2005) which exposes a webservice. I want that webservice to be available outside of the firewall (i.e. instead of <http://localhost/sql?wsdl> I want <[url removed, login to view]>). apparently SQL doesn't allow this. currently [url removed, login to view] points to my router which is forwarding port 80 to my machine.
what I need: a service that sits on the machine and listens on a given port for an external call to my webservice. When it gets a call, it sends a local request (inside the firewall) with a given username/password to the webservice, gets the results and responds back to the external user with the results.
I will accept other solutions that help me achieve my goal (but NOT SQLXML! - I don't want to setup IIS)
