I have a server running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server that hosts some files as well as websites.
I have set up DNS Services on this machine, but I do not know how to configure it properly so nothing resolves when a user goes to <[url removed, login to view]> ([url removed, login to view] is just an example, I don't own it). I have already set up my ip address as a dns for my website from [url removed, login to view] - it is [url removed, login to view] pointing to my IP.
Also, some of my files are located on this machine - when I add a forward lookup zone it takes my windows xp machine about 40 seconds just to show the contents of a directory mapped to it. So the server dns entries will need to be fixed to where I can use it on my local lan as well as from the internet when someone requests a webpage.
I need someone who is very knowledgable using dns and windows to walk me through adding forward lookup and reverse lookup zones - or anything else that may be needed. I will have more than one website so I want to set it up to host them like a webhost such as [url removed, login to view] or [url removed, login to view] would.
I would like to talk to the winning bidder on the phone through setting this up, if you are good with dns settings it should not take very long. I will call the winning bidder in the united states so they will have no phone bill to pay.
