I use windows xp, IE6, 128 encrip. for the past month I have not been able to access "Microsofts home page" or their "windows update" page. We have another comp. in the house, win 98 second ed. That old one has no problems going to the home page. I keep getting "page cannot be displayed" for both. I use Zone alarm basic firewall, which I have shut off or adjusted with no results. I use Norton's anti virus with no virus's. The XP firewall in not on. I've had to reset my IP dial up twice because it stopped working. It's been fine now. The IP doesn't know why I cannot access Microsoft and oddly enought, I spoke to Microsoft for free and they couldn't help me. They thought I had a virus that caused this. I've scanned with 3 different products (free ones also) with no result. What's up? Thanks, this is really frustrating! Also, under internet options, advanced, http 1.1 thru proxy is checked. I also was told to delete the host file with the microsoft name in notepad, so I did that also.
