I need a program that will copy the properties of one file into the properties of another file.? The issue is that a previous file editor removed some of the file properties when I was editing the files.? For example, when I would fix the red-eye problem in photos, the file editor would delete properties such as when the photo was taken etc.? I have the original files, so all I would need is a program that will copy the properties from one file to another.
Specifically, the program needs to run in Windows XP, have two browse boxes where I can select two different folders - one will be the “Source Property?? folder and one will be the “Target Property?? folder.? Then the program needs to read through the Target Property folder and do the following.? If the property “Date Picture Taken?? has a value, skip to next file.? If the property “Date Picture Taken?? is empty or blank, this file should become the Target File.? Then the program should read through the Source Property folder (and sub-folders) until it finds the same named file, which will be the Source File.? The program should then compare the properties of the two files.? If the Target File’s property is empty or blank, and the Source File’s property is not empty or blank, the program should copy the Source File’s property into the Target File’s property.? The program should check each property of the Target File, but only copy in the Source File’s property if the Target File is missing the property.
The program should read through the entire Target Property folder and perform this function for each file.? The program should report how many files it updated, as well as any errors (such as same-named file not found in Source Property folder).? ? The program should also describe on the initial screen its purpose and function.
I think the program can be all one screen.
At the top, a description of the program.
Then in the next row will be the two folder browsing windows
Then in the next row, there should be a scrolling window of the files that the program has repaired or is working on.
Then at the bottom should be a report of any errors.
