The arrest records here in FL are public record, and information from these arrests are posted to the Clerk of the Court web site daily.? (Generally, the arrest records are in a PDF format.)? People who were arrested are eligible to receive mailings (snail mail) of bail bonds and attorney services.? ? These mailings need to comply with state laws and best practices, of course.
The goal for this project is to have an application that can pull the names and addresses of all of the people arrested from the PDF document, and put it into MS Excel for mail merging.? I envision this being done in one of a couple of ways:
A. (Ideal implementation) The application window? would be open, and a PDF could be dragged and dropped? onto it (or browse to open).? This would then open Excel with the data from the PDF populated in the cells.? Data needed would be: First Name, Last Name, Street Address, City, State, Zip, Arrest Date, Charges.
B. As above, but instead of opening Excel, a CSV file could be created with the data listed.
Other suggestions will be considered, too.
The initial project will involve the reports from one county here in FL (Sarasota).? Other counties will be add-ons (future work), and may include Manatee, Charlotte, and other counties in West Central Florida.
