I have a multi-community intranet application that allows users to share documents. Multiple organizations are supported on a single code base and database. To the end user it appears as if each organization has their own private intranet.
The current application has a document manager that allows users to upload documents to the intranet and share these with other members of the site or limit access to the documents to only select members or groups of members. Uploaded files are stored in a directory unique to that community. In addition, other information about the document such as its title, description, access rights, etc are stored in a series of database tables.
I want the intranet application to support web folders whereby a directory on the web server is accessbile to members of the intranet.
The application currently has the ability to create logical 'folders' but all documents for a community are stored in a single directory unique to that community. Access to these 'folders' are restricted based on privileges assigned to each folder.
Intranet members should be able to add, change and delete documents from web folders based on their permission level designated within the intranet. These permissions are managed by the intranet administrator who only has access to the web interface and not to the OS itself.
