This should be easy money for a coder well versed in HTML. I require a program that will interrogate the text of an html webpage to find certain words which I will supply. It is little more than a spelling checker but for HTML documents.
But I only require the software to search for approx. 50 words. With each word found the software will offer the reader a short explanation (which I will supply) plus extra text that can be added to, or replace the text the software originally found.
Usual conditions including Work for hire apply.
We are a small retail company that has a number of small websites set up by our people at different locations. We are 'not technical'. We have a basic web design for one page done, then enter the words (text) ourselves before uploading the pages via FTP.
We want a quick way of checking the spelling on our sites. We don't know if it's easier to do this on the html pages stored on our own PCs, or whether to do it on line BUT we don't want to incorporate any new code on our web host, so a desktop solution is what we probably need.
We don't need a huge spelling dictionary as we are only looking for about 50 words on a site.
The software should 'look' at the webpage in question and stop whereever it finds one of the words on our list. It should then offer the reader an explanation of what this word means (we supply all the words and explanations needed) together with some alternative options that the reader can choose and, if necessary, replace, and then the software moves on to the next word, and so on.
We need to be able to add words to the master list and add or alter our 'explanations' of those words.
It is important that this software runs on a PC. Less so for a Mac.
