Would like to build a program that would allow us to use an existing website with multiple domains. In other words, we would want to accomplish the equivalent of virtual domains without having direct server access that you would normally use for virtual domains.
We may have an existing domain name called domain1.com. It's home directory is www.
Perhaps we could replace the [url removed, login to view] page with an [url removed, login to view] page. Then we would direct any one of a number of domain names to that particular IP. Alternatively, is there a way that we could use a .htaccess redirect?
Whatever domain name was requested, the script would take it to a sub directory www/domain1, www/domain2, etc. That directory would in effect become the home directory for the domain name. This is not the same as redirecting different domains to the same site, as each site could have different content.
The browser address bar must function by showing the requested domain name, and any pages requested such as:
[url removed, login to view] would show up on the address bar correctly. The only php script I've found shows /[url removed, login to view] That won't work.
We'd want to be able to run cgi scripts and others just as if it was set up on the server as a separate virtual domain.
Is this possible? We're open to suggestions.
On the front end, we'd want a stand alone windows program that would generate the [url removed, login to view] page, .htaccess script, or whatever was done to cause the redirect to work. We would have fields for the domain names to redirect, and the subdirectory names to redirect that domain name to.
Another alternative might be that we have a hosted script that would accomplish the same thing, so that we could get in over the Internet and fill in the fields, which would then generate whatever code is needed. Then the user could cut and paste that code onto his website.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
The stand alone program (that generates whatever script is needed on the server) should run in windows.
The server side script should run in either linux or windows.
