I have an existing estimating tool built in Excel (several tabs) that I use to define the number of use cases and components on a project. I would like to turn this into a web-based app using MSDE or SQL Server, with an ASP .NET front-end.
The user would be able to select from a picklist of deliverables for the project. They would then hit an "Export" button and the resulting output (Deliverable and Estimate) would be sent to MS Project. Once the project is complete, the results could then be imported (and stored) back in MS Project. The actual hours worked would then update the stored estimates for each deliverable (or create an average estimate for each deliverable type).
I have the spreadsheet, and can build a strong functional design with screen specifications.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
Windows 2003 Server
MS Project 2003
MSDE or SQL Server 2003
XML (export file)
Open to suggestions on the technology. I'd eventually like this to run within a Sharepoint or similar portal environment.
