We would like someone to rewrite the PHP/MySQL backend to our existing website. The site consists of 200+ pages and in its current form is fully functional at [[login to view URL]][1].
While fairly simple in most parts there are various database driven functions that dynamically create pages. The aim is to retain the existing layout, design and functionality but optimise the code and database behind it to make it easier to manage and build upon.
Dynamic and database driven aspects of the site include:
• Simple content management and layout templates
• Employee photographs, write ups updated from our internal HR database
• Job vacancies
• Contact lists
• Maps generated by easting and northing coordinates
• Photographs and write-ups for our annual food competition
• Search engine (PHP Dig)
Other requirements
• Simple content editor (such as <[login to view URL]>)
Future plans for the site to consider include:
• Secure staff only area (with user logon)
• Chat forum
The aim of this exercise is to optimise and neaten up the code to make it more manageable, readable and object orientated. For this reason excellent programming practices are essential as is strong experience with PHP, MySQL, OOP, LAMP environments, database driven websites, templates and content management systems. Code must be clearly commented/documented in English and the overall structure must be well designed.
The site must be W3C standards compliant and use CSS where possible. XHTML compliance would be excellent if possible.
