setup redirections and links

To impliment and upload a large web-site to take over an older framed website. (the large web-site is already written and ready to upload).

Need to setup 301 redirections from the old framed pages that are indexed on google, to the new unframed pages of the new site.

Change the links in the new site to the keep visitors within the same domain, rather than sending them to another domain when they click on another country or language.

There are 15 pages, in about 18 or so lanuages/countries that need redirections and links fixed on. (15x18 pages).

So, it's a reasonable amount of work.

Due to the more technical nature of this job, I will only accept the bid of persons with a high rating of at least 5 previous jobs, because do not want to risk losing time on this job.

I am willing to pay a bit more for someone to give this job the right attention and best coding to give the site fasted loading time, and best SEO strategy.

We need to fix many duplicate pages also.

## Deliverables

Our web site has the same 15 or so pages in various languages and counties.

(ie. in English for UK, English for USA, English for New Zealand, etc.)

Also the site is in Frames, but we have have a new site made to replace this framed site.

Some of the new site is now uploaded: [[url removed, login to view]][1]

Some of the framed pages can be seen as the other versions;

[url removed, login to view]

<[url removed, login to view]>

<[url removed, login to view]>

etc.

SO, now, we want to upload the new pages (the unframed pages that are very much like the [[url removed, login to view]][1] pages, but we need to also redirect the framed pages.

For example, I have made in the .htaccess file:

<[url removed, login to view]>

have a rewrite 301 redirect to the [[url removed, login to view]][2] page.

Because there are SO many pages to redirect, the .htaccess page is going to be enormous, and this may put strain on the server and make the site slow to load.

So, while I have heard this solution:

A better solution is simply to let PHP do the heavy lifting. It's much better for the server, and a scripted solution would limit when the redirects fired since all of the old pages were tied to either [url removed, login to view] or display_page.php.

So what was the solution?

The old [url removed, login to view] page was replaced with a scripted redirect page, where the php code analyzed the query string, compared it against an array of possible values, then assigned the correct value to the redirect. We were also able to easily insert some error handling since a couple of manufacturers/categories were going bye-bye.

Because it's contained at the file level, Apache doesn't get bogged down. In fact, nothing kicks in at all unless someone/something accesses one of those two affected files. Bottom line, instead of having a .htaccess file that was a couple hundred lines long and would have to be processed for ***every*** file request, the .htacess file contains only a few lines to handle www/non-www issues.

Our site is .htm and not .php so use .htaccess to tell the server to parse HTML as though it's PHP, then you *could* use the PHP redirect code on the old HTML pages

Otherwise, if we don't do the .php option it may be better to use mod_alias and RedirectMatch rather than mod_rewrite if at all possible. It's just easier on server load.

Also, the links out of [url removed, login to view] now to point to domains, which (for the most part) then point to back to the same [url removed, login to view] site (masked domain redirection).

So, I want the links to all be internal, (ie. [url removed, login to view] is just pointing to [url removed, login to view]), so we should change the [url removed, login to view] link to [url removed, login to view] or some appropriate [url removed, login to view] link.

I want to hear your opinion on the best way to do these redirections.

## Platform

.htm .htaccess or .php....... I don't know yet what is the best way to go.
