We have a site "[login to view URL]" and when an author inputs his information into an input form and then it is later retrieved from MySQL and displayed on the website it displays odd characters for (" " ' - ) (double quotes, single quotes, some dashes, apostrophes, etc.) The current programmer does not have the knowledge to rectify this problem. This is a major problem for our company and needs to be corrected. The website has been programmed in PHP and must stay in PHP because that is what we are all familiar with. More about this issue can be read at: [login to view URL] A function needs to be created that takes what the user inputs and converts these problem characters into the appropriate utf-8 characters. OR if you have a better idea of a solution would be glad to hear about it. I have attached a graphic displaying the problem as it appears on our input form after it has been saved and then displayed again. Yes, I know we could correct it in the form but it is too tedious and as we grow too time-consuming.
