Custom Wordpress PHP function and shortcode

Need to add a function to [login to view URL] that replaces a variable in a script and replaces it with one from the URL string. Then I need a shortcode to utilize that fucntion in building a page.
The URL format would be http://mydomain.com/landingpage?wistia_id=12345678
I have a start on the function here, but it needs a few more additions, and proper syntax at the start (needs function name, etc).
I want to add to the function an input that lets me put a fallback ID in the shortcode in case there is no custom ID found in the URL query (so the video embed does not come back empty).
